1997 Lake Champlain JY-15 Regatta Planned

The Lake Champlain Yacht Club has announced it’s plans to host the 1997 Lake Champlain JY-15 Regatta, August 23 & 24 on beautiful Shelburne Bay in the heart of Lake Champlain near Burlington, VT.

Registration is open to all sailors and the event will be run under the new official rules of the US Sailing Association. A limited amount of JY-15 sailboats will be available for charter for the event on a first-to-reserve basis. Entry for the race is $35 per boat.

The race site at LCYC includes an easy access concrete surfaced boat launch; safe on site parking; playground and beach for the family; breakfast snacks; Saturday evening dinner and entertainment; hospitality committee to assist with housing and last but not least, six well organized races on a first class body of water. Trophies will be awarded for multiple categories.

Lake Champlain Yacht Club is located on Shelburne Point inside Shelburne Bay and is less than five miles south of Burlington, VT. The approach from southern New England is via Route 89 North; from New York State via Route 87 North and the Champlain Bridge; or from Montreal, Canada, via Route 89 South. Burlington International Airport connects directly with Chicago O’Hare, Boston’s Logan, and New York’s LaGuardia airports.

The newly adopted simplified racing rules of the US Sailing Association and the International Yacht Racing Union will be in effect to encourage increased participation by a wide range of sailors.

Lake Champlain Yacht Club was first incorporated in 1887 and is chartered to encourage all forms of sailing on Lake Champlain.
