1996 IYRU Experimental Racing Rules Approved

At its 1995 annual meeting in Hamburg the International Yacht Racing Union approved the 1996 Experimental Right-of-Way Rules and Definitions.
The IYRU is encouraging national organizations, clubs, and classes to use the rules in 1996 and send in their comments.
The experimental rules will then become the basis for the Right-of-way section of the official rule book, scheduled to go into effect in 1997.

Those that are already familiar with the Experimental Rules from 1995 will find the 1996 version changed further. One such change is the elimination of mast abeam as a course altering limitation for a leeward boat.
